A Humbled Past
Westtown Fare Restaurant & Bar was a labor of love for Kristina & Stephen Ernst. Stephen attended a vocational school for cooking during high school and after graduation went to Johnson & Wales University majoring in the culinary arts. He has worked in many restaurants and was fortunate to work under some exceptional chefs.
In 1985 Stephen & Kristina were married and began to raise a family. The demands of the restaurant business kept Stephen from being part of his family’s life. He decided to switch careers and began a career in the construction trades. This proved to be extremely important in purchasing the property that is now Westtown Fare.
A Bright Future
Stephen & Kristina were dissatisfied working for others and their dream of owning a restaurant began to develop. The property which was once The Folderol became available and as fate would have it they were able to buy the restaurant in July of 2014. Work began and the transformation of the building took them six months. Much of the work was completed by Stephen and Kristina. What they couldn’t accomplish on their own was completed by an amazing assortment of talented and dedicated friends. The final results far exceeded their vision and none of it would have been possible without everyone’s help.
On January 23, 2015 the restaurant opened to the public. The outpouring from the community was impressive. Everyone was excited that a once loved establishment had reopened. Stephen & Kristina could not be more appreciative with the ongoing support and positive response from their customers.
The attention to detail is evident in the dishes presented. Locally sourced products are used whenever possible. This allows for freshness and quality as well as supporting the community that has an abundance of riches to offer. The staff is truly a team in action, everyone’s contributions are essential in delivering exceptional quality to the customers. A small dream has turned into a reality that has given both Stephen and Kristina much satisfaction for a job well done.
